Ready?

In life we are ever really ready for the next step, or do we just do it?

So I wonder if I am ready for this step in my artistic evolution?  And does it matter if I am ready or not?  As an experimentalist, I learn by doing - so until I start will I ever "feel ready"?

                               Start what you ask?
blogging on my journey

                               What journey?

to open my eyes, mind and spirit -
allowing my inner artist see the world;
to encourage creative curiosity,
squelch the inner cynic and
continue on this ongoing path!

Simon and Garfunkel's version of
The Times They Are A-Changin' has always resonated with me.

Years ago, I related to the youth feeling that I was independent, powerful and vital... now I hear the words and I fear that if I don't continue to evolve - I'll sink like a stone. I have always found this to be an uplifting song - and I see how it can be seen the other way.  I have always enjoyed change, growth, evolution...

So let's go around on this continuous circle of life!

I've added some red to the words that really resonate with me.

The Times They Are A-Changin'

Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start Swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come writers and critics
Who prophesise with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who
That it's namin'.
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come senators, Congressmen
Please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway
Don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There's a battle outside
And it is ragin'.
It'll soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don't criticize
What you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is
Rapidly agin'.
Please get out of the new one
If you can't
lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'.

The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is
Rapidly fadin'.
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin'.

"The Boxer" was originally written with a verse that is not present in the Bridge Over Troubled Water version:
Now the years are rolling by me
They are rockin' evenly
I am older than I once was
And younger than I'll be
and that's not unusual.
No it isn't strange
After changes upon changes
We are more or less the same
After changes we are more or less the same
